Mondnacht
Es war, als hätt’ der Himmel
Die Erde still geküsst,
Dass sie im Blütenschimmer
Von ihm nun träumen müsst.

So sternklar war die Nacht.

Moonlit Night
It was as if the heavens
Had kissed the earth in silence,
And the earth, its shimmering blooms,
Dreamt of heaven alone.
A breeze blew through the fields,
The grain swayed gently
The trees shook softly,
The night was bright with stars.
